Float to the top of the wildly romantic Predigtstuhl mountain near Bad Reichenhall all year round in “glass pavilions”.
Once the gondola doors have closed and the signal for departure has sounded you will be transported to a different time for the next nine minutes. Take the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous view of the mountain world. The famous Predigtstuhlbahn has been taking its passengers safely to the 1614 metre high Predigtstuhl ever since it opened on 1 July 1928. This makes it the oldest large-cabin cable car preserved in its original state operating all year round. Enjoy a truly nostalgic trip with the Grande Dame of the Alps. Today, as in the past, there is an engineer working in the top station ensuring that the cable car takes the visitors up the 1,150 metres difference in elevation. The distance covered is some 2,500 metres. The top station incorporates our Mountain Restaurant with its café terrace. In 2006, the Bavarian office for the preservation of historic buildings and monuments declared it a technical monument.
